Mike Vila

Mike VilaMike Vila is from Martinez, CA attending De La Salle High school and played multiple sports much like Joe.  Lacrosse was introduced to De La Salle when Mike was a sophomore and when he became a Senior he decided to give the sport a try.  Working closely with his coaches and outside of practice Mike was given a long pole to start and as the season began Mike was able to work his way through the ranks as a first year player to a starting position leading the Defense to their first NCS appearance and first NCS title game of the league.  In 2003, Mike attended Chico State and joined the lacrosse team deciding to  red-shirt his first year after convincing his twin brother Joe to come and play.  As a redshirt Mike was given a short stick and went through the learning curve with a short stick since he had never used one in his first year.  The following year Mike specialized in Face-offs and for the first two years was the primary Face off guy for Chico State.  The next two years Mike joined up with Joe to have a dynamic midfield line to help fuel the Chico State offense.  In Mike’s final year he helped lead Chico State back to the final four of the WCLL which had not been done since prior to his college career at Chico State and get back into a national ranking.

After graduating in 2008, Mike moved back to the East Bay and started working for Vila Construction and began playing in the men’s club league for Barbary Coast, and then moving over to team Clifbar. Since graduating Mike has continued to play in numerous tournaments stateside, locally, and overseas in Germany, England, Czech Republic and Mexico.  Mike is also involved in creating two teams that he takes all over the United States to play in tournaments.  Currently serves as a JV coach for De La Salle as one of the Offensive coaches and has worked lacrosse camps, shooting clinics and personal lessons since graduating in 2008.
